Jay Lethal To Wrestle Former ECW Star At Upcoming ROH Event
September 01, 2015 (19:15) [ Indexed from Wrestling-Edge ]
Ring of Honor issued the following: The ROH RELOADED tour is ending summer HOT! Last Saturday, the ROH RELOADED TOUR kicked off with our return to Atlanta! On that night, STEVIE RICHARDS was invited to appear as a special guest of Ring of Honor. Stevie Richards is a beloved character and athlete who has earned the respect and admiration of everyone in the sport. Everyone, that is, except the ROH World Champion, Jay Lethal. During an in-ring interview, Richards explained that he was looking forward to the opportunity to compete against the top stars in ROH, a goal he'd long held. It seems Jay Lethal took offense to Richards and his statements, especially the fact that he himself wasn't on top of Stevie's list. Lethal ran down the veteran, calling him a waste and ordering him out of the ring. Naturally, Richards wasn't about to take the abuse and a huge brawl broke out. Now when the RELOADED TOUR rolls through Lockport, NY, Stevie Richards will be there and he will be competing! His opponent? JAY LETHAL! Lethal has a huge fight ahead of him in San Antonio when Kyle O'Reilly challenges for the ROH World Championship LIVE on PPV. But regardless of the outcome of that match, Lethal vs. Richards is officially signed for September 26th in Lockport! This isn't about titles. In Lockport, you will see a one-on-one battle based solely on honor and disrespect! Keep checking rohwrestling.com for more information on the latest matches signed for the ROH RELOADED TOUR! - JAY LETHAL w/TRUTH MARTINI vs. STEVIE RICHARDS Ring of Honor Wrestling Saturday, September 26, 2015 Kenan Center 433 Locust Street - Lockport, NY 14094 BELL TIME: 7:30PM EST Click Here to purchase tickets The post Jay Lethal To Wrestle Former ECW Star At Upcoming ROH Event appeared first on Wrestling-Edge. ECW Legend Tommy Dreamer Explains Why He Will Not Take Another Chokeslam Bump In His Career
August 09, 2015 (02:15) [ Indexed from Wrestling-Edge ]
Former ECW, WWE and TNA talent Tommy Dreamer took his last chokeslam from Lance Story at the Lone Star Championship Wrestling event back on July 12th. See down below https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUIar_pjjqc#action=share Dreamer posted the following on his Facebook page as to why it will be his last chokeslam in his career: There comes a time in every persons life they say ugh I'm getting old. We can fight it as much as possible but it happens. It is harder to come to terms with many athletes that they are losing a step. Ironically I watched a story about Earl Campbell the iconic running back for the Houston Oilers whose punishing style made him famous. He has a myriad of back issues walks w/a walker from when the documentary was made. He said after he got traded, he had the toughest call to make & he called his wife & said I'm losing a step. It's time to retire. Well on Sunday in Houston Texas. I took my last ever chokeslam. This move was invented by Paul Heyman. He visualized it & gave it to a wrestler named 911. Well I took my share of them from him as well as from Brian Lee which made me famous for being crazy & extreme. I actually enjoyed taking them. I've taken them on chairs, concrete, a cinderblock, outside on someone's lawn. Into a trash can, into a dumpster, from the top of the ECW Arena, the top of steel cages, you name it i've taken them. Well I took this one on Sunday & I felt something weird. PAIN. & heard crunch. Wasn't Lance Hoyts fault he placed me perfect. Im just 44 & after a 20min hardcore match my chokeslam bump card has expired. Going into my own companies largest show im hurt. Im pissed at myself because when im performing in ring im still 25 years old, but my body reminded me im 44 w/a broken neck & back. So thank you Chokeslam we had a great relationship. Ive taken them from 911,Brian Lee, The Undertaker, Kane, Test, Big Show and a few I probably forgot. I will heal, I will fight thru the pain but knowing my wrestling career is on the tail end of ending is the hardest part. No regrets, I got a few good matches left in me. Everything is cool you're in a different environment, a lot of fun in those early days in Nashville." Feelings on Sabu & ECW: "I loved it because I was actually one of the biggest ECW fans there ever could be. I was fascinated by ECW. I watched it religiously, everything, anything I could get my hands on. I knew everything about everybody and Sabu was one of those guys I idolized and looked up to growing up watching wrestling. So just getting to work with him was a dream come true.   Did he think the X-Division could've helped TNA, and his feelings on how it is today: Yea absolutely. I think that was one of the main reasons people were watching. It was unlike anything else on television at the time. On how the X-Division is Today: Yea it's definitely not what it was. Steve Corino Talks About Working With Dusty Rhodes And Paul Heyman While In ECW
July 12, 2015 (23:00) [ Indexed from Wrestling-Edge ]
"King of Old School" Steve Corino recently appeared on The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling Podcast to discuss his time in ECW, Dusty Rhodes and Paul Heyman. Here are the highlights. How he found out that he was working with Dusty Rhodes in ECW: We always used to joke with (Tommy) Dreamer. He would always talk about himself in the third person as "The Dream" so I didn't even know Dusty was in the building that night. When he said you are working with "The Dream" I said "Ok cool what are we doing?" just thinking that I was wrestling Tommy Dreamer and he said no you are doing something with "THE DREAM". The first thing I did when we met was say "Sir, we have a promo so what would you like to do." He said "Kid, if you are as good as they say you are then we don't need to talk about anything, just do it." The original plan was he was just going to give me one big elbow, I would bump for him and roll-out and we would be done. We weren't sure if we were using it for TV because he had just been released by WCW and as soon as they came alive for the first elbow Jack Victory ran in there and I'd get back up, then he would get back up and stayed in the center for the big elbow. Right from there he told Paul (Heyman) put me in a program with this kid. Paul asked how do you see this ending and I said a bull-rope match and we ended up doing a bull-rope match and it really was the greatest thing. The most flattering comments given to him by Paul Heyman: People always ask was winning the ECW Title the greatest honor Paul gave you and I think the greatest thing Paul ever said to me was after the bull-rope match he pulled me aside and said "Corino, that was better than anything he (Dusty) and Tully (Blanchard) ever did". Paul had no idea that my three favorite wrestlers growing up were Wildfire Tommy Rich, Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert and Tully Blanchard and that is what I saw in this feud was that I was the Tully Blanchard, Eddie Gilbert type of heel and when he said that I was all misty eyed. Steve Corino also discusses the Northeast Indy Scene in the late 90s, his dark matches with the WWF, working Scott Steiner, all of his Ring of Honor feuds, CM Punk and much more. Justin Credible Talks About Working With Jerry Lynn, Learning From Him And Being ECW Champion
July 05, 2015 (22:00) [ Indexed from Wrestling-Edge ]
Former ECW Champion Justin Credible appeared on The Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling Podcast recently to discuss working with Jerry Lynn, winning the ECW championship and more. Here are the highlights. On becoming ECW Champion: "Paul told me about ten minutes before the show. It was such a unique situation because Taz had come back and beaten Mike Awesome who was going to WCW and Taz who had gone up to Vince and WWE actually came in and beat Mike Awesome. Then Tommy Dreamer gets his shot at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia and after he wins it I hit the ring, challenged him, hit him with a stick, dumped him on his head and I was the ECW World Champion. Tommy was the shortest reigning ECW Champion of all time. Tommy was and is one of the most unselfish guys in the business. His job was to get people over. He would get over more with the fans by losing then he did winning, he had the sympathetic thing where he got his ass beat and kept fighting and getting up and that was his thing and he made a lot of superstars that way. He made me, he made Steve Corino, CW Anderson. He made so many wrestlers and that's how he did it by being unselfish." On working with Jerry Lynn: "Paul Heyman put Jerry Lynn and I together for my first match in the ECW Arena and it was Jerry's as well and it was really just a match to get me over. We got a long well, worked very well together and Paul saw the chemistry there and it grew. We started that program there and Jerry Lynn is probably the most underrated and talented wrestlers in the world. I would say he is in my top 20 all time and definitely one of the best I've ever been in the ring with and I've worked with John Cena, The Rock, Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon." On what he learned working with Lynn: "Jerry taught me a lot. That style of wrestling I had never done. Almost like a Japan style with innovative high spots and a lot of stuff that was not being done. It was something that the fans enjoyed, to see a guy like Jerry and a bit of a brawler in me using the Kendo sticks and the tables on Jerry which we did incorporate in a very unique fashion so the styles worked well together and if you can't have a good match with Jerry Lynn you can't have a good match."
